I’ll admit it straight away, the only reason Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul ever came up on my radar was because of a Youtube video titled “Top 10 Enemies Turned Lovers in Anime”. The concept and excerpts really caught my interest, and here I am months later, done with the whole thing. And let me tell you. That relationship the video talked about? Totally worth it. Sweetest. thing. ever. OTP. My heart. Swoon. Giggles and happy sighs galore.
Anyway.
The Romance of the Century
While the general story was interesting, what really kept me there through episodes 1 to 24 was undoubtedly the romance between Nina, a shy girl who turns into a dragon every time she gets flustered by a handsome man, and Charioce, the seemingly cold-hearted king of the country. They were just… everything. There was a scene in particular that I watched right before getting to work, and which had me smiling like a loon the entire day. I felt so giddy just thinking about it and how their romance would develop, it was such a brilliant mood to be in. They just made me so happy.
I also really appreciated the fact that nothing’s all black or all white in Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul. You’re kinda rooting for everybody, start disliking the “good guys” at some point, feel so sad seeing the “bad guys” dying, understand everybody’s point of view, and plain cry at some scenes because they’re just so sad.
Pick A Side… If You Can
The characters as a whole were lovable. Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul actually gave us a spunky, loud, oblivious, yet at the same time very sensible heroine and a brooding but caring male lead with a bunch of endearing secondary characters all with their own specificity.
It also had the good sense to stray from the common cliché of the foolish, useless master who uses their student to do their chores. Favaro may be a fool, but he’s a reliable one who’d rather think with his head and support his student, be it by offering a shoulder to cry on, a piece of advice, or simply by respecting her boundaries.
Also something that should be highlighted: the true loyalists aren’t who you think they are. (I loved that, and won’t say more about it so as to avoid any spoilers.)
The animation was alright, but the character design was very pretty, and the music (especially the dance themes) was gorgeous. The opening sequences, on the other hand, were absolutely lit. The first for its colors and animation, and the second because of the song.
All in All…
A good time to be had, with the sweetest romance ever.

Acabó de terminar este anime y estoy muy conmocionada, realmente me gustó mucho, ame a cada personaje, es que estaban tan bien creados que era imposible no maravillarse. Ahora voy a ver la primera temporada, porque vi la segunda sin ver la primera jajaja
